Dominik Mysterio did the unthinkable at SummerSlam 2024 when he betrayed his Mami, Rhea Ripley and chose to side with Ripley’s rival, who had been constantly pursuing her for months, Liv Morgan. Almost a month later, Dom chose to reflect on his actions candidly.
What did Dominik Mysterio have to say about betraying Rhea Ripley?
During a recent interview on the Cheap Heat Podcast, Dominik Mysterio admitted that it did not bring joy to him at the sight of betraying Rhea Ripley. But Dominik also believed that Rhea Ripley got what she deserved.
“I wouldn’t say it brought me joy but it was more of like a sort of like, you get what you deserve kinda thing.”
Furthermore, Dominik Mysterio reflected on the origins of the starting of her alliance with Rhea Ripley. Initially, he thought it could benefit both of their careers. But then believed that things got sour the minute he lost the NXT North American Championship. Instead of Rhea being supported, she gave Dominik the ultimatum to either come home with the title or not show at all.
“How did she start her relationship with me? She choked me out, she beat me up and dragged me on her shoulder, like my face was all busted up. So, I was like, all right, you know, I’ll join. And then the relationship blossomed out of nowhere. I was like, ‘okay, this could actually work out.’ But then, certain things happened here and there. When I lost my NXT North American Title for the first time, what did she do? Instead of being supportive Mami and being like, ‘hey, everything’s gonna be okay,’ she got in my face and said, ‘you better come home with that title or don’t come home at all.”
Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan then sided with Finn Balor, JD McDonagh and Carlito to form the new Judgment Day. The duo are now set to battle Rhea Ripley and her terror twin, Damian Priest, at WWE’s upcoming PLE, WWE Bash in Berlin. With things escalating between both sides since SummerSlam, it will surely be a hard-hitting encounter that will go down in Berlin, Germany this Saturday.
