Donte Johnson Stay Undefeated With Close Split Decision Win Over Cody Brundage

Donte Johnson kept his undefeated record intact, scoring a split decision win over Cody Brundage at UFC 326.

Johnson came out swinging early, but that opened up an opportunity for Brundage to score a quick takedown and put his opponent’s back on the mat. Brundage controlled a majority of the opening round, but Johnson eventually fought his way up and looked to land a fight-ending blow with the time remaining in the first.

That moment never came in the first, taking us to the second stanza where Brundaged looked to flex his grappling game once again. However, it was Johnson who largely controlled the action, stuffing multiple takedown attempts and lighting up Brundage with some nasty ground-and-pound shots against the fence.

Brundage ultimately survived the onslaught, but his body language didn’t look promising going into the final five minutes.

With both fighters showing fatigue in the third, neither could secure a finish. Regardless, Johnson succeeded in keeping his ‘O’ with the first decision victory of his career.

Official Result: Donte Johnson def. Cody Brundage via unanimous decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
