The Games of the Future (GOTF) is bringing one of esports’ most iconic titles back to the global stage, with Dota 2 confirmed to return for the Games of the Future 2026 in Astana, reinforcing the event’s growing status as a major fixture on the international sports and esports calendar.

The world’s top Dota 2 teams will go head-to-head from 31 July to 5 August 2026, competing for a US$1M prize pool at stake.

The main stage matches will unfold at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace, one of Astana’s premier international competition venues. The modern complex features a 5,000-seat arena built to host world-class sporting spectacles, providing the stage for one of the most anticipated esports competitions at the Games of the Future 2026.

Dota 2 made an unforgettable impression at the Games of the Future 2025 in Abu Dhabi, where Win, the rookie team, stunned the arena with a flawless run through the tournament, never dropping a single game. In a Grand Final for the ages, they secured a 2:0 victory over Dota 2 legends Vikings, to become the first title winners crowned at GOTF 2025.

William Al-Badeesh, Publisher Relations Manager at Phygital International, said, “We are thrilled to bring Dota 2 back to the Games of the Future. As one of the most widely played and passionately followed esports titles in the world, Dota 2 represents the very highest level of competitive play. Following the unforgettable tournament at GOTF 2025, we are excited to welcome the world’s best teams to Astana this year for what promises to be another exceptional competition.”

The MOBA PC discipline featuring Dota 2 is one of eight disciplines set to feature at GOTF 2026. The event will bring together more than 900 participants from over 50 nationalities in Astana, with over 100,000 fans expected to pack venues across the city. The Games of the Future brings together both digital and physical disciplines under one global competition, reflecting the event’s phygital format. Together, the participating disciplines highlight the Games of the Future’s ambition to unite globally recognized game titles, leading publishers and elite athletes within one international competition.
