Draymond Green reveals what he told the Phoenix Suns about signing Dillon Brooks before they made the deal

The Phoenix Suns were not supposed to be this good this season.

At least that is how they were portrayed by the media coming into the year. The Phoenix Suns were expected to take a step back after they traded Kevin Durant and bought out Bradley Beal.

However, the Suns have looked like a completely different team and they have been very competitive in the Western Conference.

As things stand right now, the Suns are 7th in the West and look destined to be a play-in team or even challenge for a top-6 spot.

Brooks is coming off an epic 33-point performance against the Los Angeles Lakers, which snapped their 7-game winning streak.

Draymond Green talked about the Suns’ addition of Brooks and how he knew he was going to raise the level of play for them.

“I think Dillon Brooks… I spoke to some people from the Suns earlier this summer, and I was like, ‘Listen, go get Dillon Brooks. Dillon Brooks is going to raise the level of play on a team on a nightly basis.’ That is who he is; that’s what he does.

“I have a lot of respect for that.

“The way he’s playing right now for Phoenix has been incredible.

“He’s scoring the ball in every which way: mid-range, three, off the dribble, side-step, getting to the cup. He’s doing it all, and obviously, he’s still playing with that same chip and tenacity that he’s always played with, so you have to tip your hat to him.

“Saw something today that said he could possibly be an All-Star. Anybody who can grind and become an All-Star in their eighth year, or whatever year he’s in…”

Brooks raises his team’s ceiling and he has a proven track record showcasing that.

When he was with the Memphis Grizzlies, they were one of the premier teams in the West. Since his departure, they haven’t been the same.

Then when Brooks went to the Houston Rockets, he was a big reason why they jumped to the No. 2 seed in the conference.

Now with the Suns, Brooks has his team fighting for a top-6 spot, when many people thought Phoenix was lottery-bound.

Brooks deserves a lot of credit when it comes to impacting winning and being an important piece on both ends of the floor.
