The 2025/26 MTN FA Cup quarterfinal match played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, March 15, 2026, produced a tense and thrilling encounter between Premier League sides Heart of Lions and Dreams FC. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Dreams FC advanced 4–3 on penalties to book their place in the semi-finals.
The match saw Seedorf Asante give Heart of Lions the lead in the 34th minute with a clinical strike. However, Dreams FC’s persistence paid off when Suraj Seidu scored a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time (90+2), sending the contest into a penalty shootout.
Despite Heart of Lions’ narrow defeat, centre-back Ebenezer Abban was named Man of the Match for his commanding defensive display, timely tackles, and leadership at the back, keeping his side competitive throughout the 120 minutes.
Dreams FC, who faced only lower-division teams on their road to the quarter-finals, have been in solid form in the competition. They opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Semper Fi in the Round of 64, followed by a 2-0 win against Asanska FC in the Round of 32. The Round of 16 saw them overcome Inter Allies FC 4-2 to secure their place among the last eight.
Looking ahead, Dreams FC will face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Attram De Visser and Medeama SC. Currently, Dreams sit 12th in the Ghana Premier League table, three points clear of the relegation zone. The club has a history of FA Cup success, having lifted the trophy for the first time in the 2022/23 season, defeating King Faisal Babies 2-0, with goals from Aziz Issah and Sadiq Alhassan, earning a spot in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.
With penalties settled and the semi-final spot secured, Dreams FC now set their sights on another shot at FA Cup glory, while Heart of Lions will look to bounce back in the league following their narrow exit.
