The New York Knicks won their first trophy since 1973, the last time they won the NBA Championship.
They were led by OG Anunoby who scored 28 points and Jalen Brunson who chipped in with 25.
However, the Knicks’ second unit was the biggest difference in this game as Tyler Kolek and Jordan Clarkson combined to score 29 points.

The previous two winners of the NBA Cup, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks both raised their NBA Cup banner.

According to Ian Begley, the Knicks will not raise their NBA Cup banner at Madison Square Garden.
Begley said the Knicks don’t want to diminish the accomplishment, but they have bigger goals in mind, like winning the NBA title in June.
Former NBA player Dwight Howard reacted to the Knicks’ decision of not raising the banner.
“I’m going to be second hand embarrassed if the Knicks don’t raise the NBA Cup Banner then don’t make it to the championship this year.
“Celebrate your wins while you can.”

In each of the last two seasons, the NBA Cup winner has been eliminated in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs.
The Lakers won the NBA Cup in 2023 and lost to the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Bucks then won the NBA Cup in 2024 and lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round.
The Knicks should be a top seed come playoff time so they could be safe from this curse. However, it will still be something interesting to monitor.
