The Philadelphia Eagles had interest in signing free agent wide receiver Darnell Mooney before he ultimately joined the New York Giants instead, according to a report from NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler adds that Mooney has a good relationship with Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy after previously overlapping together on the Chicago Bears from 2020-2021.

Mooney was recently released by the Atlanta Falcons, two years after signing a three-year, $39 million contract with them. He had a nice year with 992 yards in 2024 but fell down to just 443 yards last season.
It’s interesting to see that the Eagles had interest in signing a veteran receiver. The team did lose Jahan Dotson in free agency (to the same Falcons that cut Mooney). There’s also obviously plenty of buzz about A.J. Brown not returning to Philly in 2026.
We’ll soon see if the Eagles look to add another wide receiver to their roster.
