Eddie Edwards would not put himself in the Mount Rushmore of TNA wrestlers.
The longtime TNA Wrestling veteran made this statement, while also discussing being in the main event of the upcoming TNA Rebellion special event during an appearance on the Generation of Wrestling podcast (see video below).
Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview where he touches on these topics with his thoughts. Also embedded below is a complete video archive of the discussion.
On how he wouldn’t put himself in the Mount Rushmore of TNA wrestlers: “I’m not gonna- I would never be one to put myself on a Mount Rushmore of anything at this point, but very much, you know, I would like to be considered a pillar, a flag bearer of TNA. There’s a reason that I’ve been a part of TNA for so long. It’s because I believe in, in our product and what we’ve been doing. And especially now, you know, with everything we got going on, there’s a reason that I’ve been a part of this brand for so long. So, I always want to be referred to as, you know, somebody who is proud to raise and wave the flag for TNA and also constantly try to be one of the pillars of the company going forward as well as the foundation. Mount Rushmore, that’s more for the guys and girls who were there at the beginning and helped cement TNA as a new option for professional wrestling. For me, it’s more about helping move it forward the best I can and help reform the foundation of TNA.”
On challenging Mike Santana for the world title in the main event of TNA Rebellion: “It’s the main event of one of our biggest shows of the year. It’s Rebellion, and any time you’re in a main event of a big show, you get to feel that pressure. Going into it, I enjoy being in those spots. This is the pressure that we all want. You know what I mean? This is the moments that there’s all the hard work that we do. We want to be in those top-billed matches on pay-per-view, and that’s what the situation is. You know, going into it, I’m just going out there, and there’s these matches where you go in knowing that when you walk to the back, you know, when the match is over, you know you’re going to be beat up. You’re going to be bruised. You’re going to be exhausted. You’re going to feel that adrenaline pumping, that’s what I look forward into in a match like this. I want to feel that coming from the back. I want to feel like I left it all out there. You know what I mean? Because I know I will. I know Santana will, he has been a great champion. There’s no denying it. He has worked his ass off for it, but I know we’re both in there together. We have similar mindset where we’re going to leave it all out there. We are, we are the main event in Cleveland, Ohio (at) Rebellion. Like let’s leave it all out there. Let’s bust our ass and leave it out there. So I’m looking forward to that feeling of pure exhaustion when I walk to the back and a feeling of true accomplishment. That is my goal, and, of course, feeling as a world champion walking out of there.”
