EIHL all set for 4-game Saturday

Saturday night in Week 25 of the Elite Ice Hockey League season brings four games as the final run-in really begins.

Tonight takes the league from games 208 to 211 of a 270-game regular season.

Coventry Blaze return to home ice after a narrow defeat in Dundee on Friday night to face Guildford Flames. Both sides are battling in the middle of the table with outside hopes of breaking into the top five.

Cardiff Devils, nine points behind leaders Belfast Giants, host basement side Fife Flyers. The Flyers parted company with head coach Jamie Russell on Friday, while Cardiff could move into second place with a victory after Sheffield’s defeat on Friday night.

Dundee Stars, winners on Friday night, travel to face Glasgow Clan. The Stars realistically need to win out to keep their playoff hopes alive, with victory over the team they are chasing a must to keep their chances of making the post-season.

Finally, Nottingham Panthers will look to avenge last weekend’s 5-1 defeat in Manchester when they host Storm. The visitors still have an outside chance of reaching the top four but likely need a regulation win tonight to keep that ambition alive. Nottingham could end the night in second place with a win if Cardiff fail to do so, though they begin their final 14 games of the season 10 points behind the league-leading Giants.
