England team will be reaching Pakistan on Wednesday to play three Tests in Pakistan, beginning from October 7 in Rawalpindi, with the Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood being under consistent whips for suffering a series of defeats.
On Monday, Masood caught himself getting targeted during the pre-series media conference, where a journalist insultingly asked him about why he was not giving up on being the captain.
“You mentioned that you’ll keep on playing as long as the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) gives you opportunities. Don’t you have self-respect or dignity to step aside, considering the team’s poor performance and continuous losses?” the journalist asked.
This rather offensive question led to the media director Samiul Hasan to remind the journalist to maintain the decorum when speaking to the captain of the national team.
“The captain of Pakistan is seated, feel free to ask your questions but please show respect and make sure queries are not asked inappropriately,” said Hasan.
Masood has not had the best starts as the Test captain, as he has lost 5 matches since he took charge of the team. There is also a feeling that he might not be getting the required support by some players.
Apart from all this, India defeating Bangladesh by 7 wickets has done nothing but make things difficult for the stake-holders in Pakistan cricket.
However, Masood has said that the series against England will give his side the best chance to re-establish itself in world cricket.
“We all know the importance of the series and the players are also aware of what to do,” he said.
