England Recognition for Berkshire Stars – Berkshire Cricket

Jafer Chohan and Poppy Tulloch have both been rewarded for their performances this week with recognition at international level.

Leg-Spinner Chohan who was picked up by Berkshire in 2021 after being released as a 17 year old by Middlesex played a key role for the Royal County in their 2022 NCCA Trophy Victory taking 2-57 in the final at Wormsley. He played games across all formats for Berkshire and it was there performances along with those for SACA in the 20023 Season which led to him signing professional terms with Yorkshire in 2021.

His meteoric rise continued as he was picked up by the Southern Brave to play in the Hundred competition and now an international cap beckons as he has been selected in England’s White Ball Squad who tackle to the West Indies for aIT20 and 50 Over series later this month.

England recognition has also come on the female pathway this week with Berkshire’s Poppy Tulloch being named on the non-travelling reserves list for England Women’s U19 World Cup Squad this winter. Having begun her journey with Berkshire as an U10, she gained a spot on the Southern Vipers Academy this year. Poppy had an excellent season with the Vipers, picking up regular wickets for the Academy & 2nd XI. Her performances saw her included in various matchday squads for the Vipers 1st XI over the summer. She finished the summer playing in the School Games against Ireland and Scotland U19s where she claimed 4 wickets including that of Ireland’s 1st choice wicket keeper – Amy Hunter.

Poppy also had another great year in the Berkshire green, finishing as the leading run scorer and wicket taker for the Women’s 1st XI and continuing to represent the U18s who made it to the T20 quarter finals.
