Manchester City make the short trip across the city to face Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t won any of their last three matches in the Premier League and now sit six points behind leaders Arsenal, although the Citizens did return to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

New City signing Antoine Semenyo has already made an impressive impact for City having joined the club from Bournemouth earlier this month, scoring on his debut against Exeter City in the FA Cup before also netting against the Magpies last time out.

Now, it appears that City are closing in on another marquee January signing.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, City are closing in on the signing of defender Marc Guehi from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Guehi, 25, is in the final six months of his contract with the Eagles and isn’t expected to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

The centre-back joined Palace from Chelsea back in 2021 and has since made more than 180 appearances for the south London outfit across all competitions, as well as establishing himself as a regular for England.

Last summer, the central defender came close to joining Premier League champions Liverpool, before the move ultimately collapsed in the final stages of the window.

Romano claims that City have agreed a deal worth around £20 million to sign the defender, with Palace having reluctantly agreed to sell Guehi, in turn avoiding losing the player as a free agent this summer.

Guehi himself is said to have approved the switch to The Etihad, with the defender set to join Guardiola’s squad for the rest of the campaign.

The centre-back will provide a welcome boost to City as they attempt to win back the Premier League title, especially with Josko Gvardiol set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury.
