Epic Games has confirmed sweeping changes to Fortnite’s in-game economy, increasing the price of V-Bucks packs while adjusting Battle Pass rewards and subscription benefits starting March 19.
The developer said the move comes as the “cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot,” prompting a restructuring of how the game’s premium currency is sold across its ecosystem.
V-Bucks Packs Reduced
Under the new structure, players will receive fewer V-Bucks for the same purchase price across most pack tiers.
The $8.99 pack will now provide 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000, while the $22.99 bundle drops from 2,800 to 2,400 V-Bucks. The $36.99 option will fall from 5,000 to 4,500 V-Bucks, and the $89.99 tier decreases from 13,500 to 12,500 V-Bucks.
Epic also confirmed that “exact amount” purchases will effectively double in price, increasing from roughly $0.50 for 50 V-Bucks to $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks, though regional pricing may vary.
Epic Rewards Introduced
To offset the changes, Epic is introducing 20% back in Epic Rewards for purchases made using its own payment system through the Epic Games Store.
The rewards apply to transactions in Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League across PC, mobile, and web platforms when players pay through Epic’s checkout system. Credits earned through Epic Rewards can later be used on future purchases within Epic games or the Epic Games Store.
For example, the $8.99 V-Bucks pack will return $1.79 in Epic Rewards, while the $89.99 tier will grant $17.99 in credit.
Battle Pass and Mode Pass Adjustments
Epic is also revising the cost and reward structure of several passes across Fortnite’s expanding game modes.
The standard Battle Pass will now cost 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000. However, the maximum V-Bucks players can earn from completing the pass will also drop to 800, compared to the previous 1,500 available across the main pass and Bonus Rewards.
Epic confirmed that V-Bucks will no longer appear in Bonus Rewards, meaning players can only earn the currency through the main progression track.
Several other passes tied to specific Fortnite experiences will also see price adjustments:
- OG Pass: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
- Music Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)
- LEGO Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)
The Battle Bundle, which includes the Battle Pass and 25 instant levels, will drop from 2,800 to 2,600 V-Bucks.
Fortnite Crew Changes

Epic also confirmed adjustments to the Fortnite Crew subscription, which bundles a monthly cosmetic set with V-Bucks.
Subscribers will now receive 800 V-Bucks per month instead of 1,000, with Epic stating that Crew members will receive region-specific emails detailing when the change will take effect.
Existing Gift Cards Unaffected
Epic said existing V-Bucks gift cards will continue to be redeemed for their printed value, meaning players who already purchased them will not be affected by the changes.
The pricing overhaul arrives as Fortnite continues expanding beyond its battle royale origins, with multiple modes, including Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite OG, now forming part of the wider platform.
