Epic scenes on the first day of pink ball test between India and Australia

Epic drama unfolded on day one of the day-night Test between India and Australia here on Friday. KL Rahul, a batter from India, appeared to have gotten out for a duck during the first session but through a no-ball called by Australian pacer Scott Boland, he survived. Rahul, who opened for India with Yashasvi Jaiswal, lost his partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the very first ball of the match. Then, he appeared to have edged one to the hands of the wicket-keeper on the very first ball bowled by Boland. However, the delivery was considered no-ball, keeping Rahul on the pitch.

But when the on-field call went in the favour of the bowling side, India’s No 4 batter Virat Kohli strolled out to replace Rahul on the pitch. But, he had to be sent back by the umpires as the no-ball from Boland prevented Rahul from being dismissed.

What’s wonderful to see is the fact that Snicko showed no spikes when the ball sailed past Rahul’s bat, and it’s unsure whether the star of India had any intensions to review the call.

Later in the same over, Rahul was caught out by Usman Khawaja in slips, and he had yet another lifeline, disappointing Boland and Australia.

The batsman finally got out scoring 37 runs from 64 balls as Mitchell Starc took away his second wicket of the day.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. The Indian side made three changes for the game, bringing in Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin besides the captain himself. Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Washington Sundar made way for the trio for the pink-ball Test.
