Ethan Page Makes History With NXT North American Title Defense During 2/17 NXT

The February 17 episode of NXT was quite a fun show. This also included a #1 contender match for the NXT Tag Team Titles. The night was capped off with a North American Title match with a lot of history.

The NXT North American Championship was defended as Ethan Page put his title on the line against Shiloh Hill. There was a lot of build toward this match, as Hill was hyped up about it in a backstage segment. In the end, All Ego made his way out as Champion, and he looked very confident.

This match was back-and-forth, and there were a few near falls. Ethan Page was looking to set the record for most successful NXT North American Title defenses with this match, so he had all the reason to want to win this one. After all, he needs as much to gloat about as possible. He just needs to hold the title for a few more weeks to break the record of most days as champion.

Before the match started, Myles Borne was seen walking in the direction of the ring. He made it clear that he knew what he was going to do. This led a lot of people to assume he would get involved in the main event match.

Ethan Page tried to use the NXT North American Title as a weapon at one point. Then Hill was able to turn that around, and he put the title back in its place just before they cut to commercial break.

The Vanity Project showed up at ringside to help out All Ego. The heel stable moved the protective mat from the ringside area, but Hill was able to avoid an Ego’s Edge on the concrete. Then Hill took his fake tooth out, and he got into the match even more. After a bit of a rally from Shiloh Hill, fans were chanting for him. Then Hill took the fight to the Vanity Project because he could.

Suddenly, Ethan Page jumped Hill from behind and nailed a Twisted Grin on the exposed concrete. Then Page nailed another Twisted Grin to win the match and retain his title. After the match was over, Myles Borne came out to help Shiloh Hill as the Vanity Project attacked him. Then Borne beat Ethan Page down as he screamed that he wanted a title match. Then Page gave him the match next week.

What’s your take on Shiloh Hill’s time in NXT so far? Do you believe that he has major singles titles waiting on him in the future? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
