The IIHF European Cup of Nations begins in Edinburgh today as Great Britain host Poland, Slovenia and Ukraine at Murrayfield Ice Rink.
The four-team tournament runs until Saturday 7th February with two games a day at the famous old Scottish barn.
Excitement is high for GB’s first return to Scotland. From the buzz of the Murrayfield Racers era to today’s Capitals, Scottish rinks – and Murrayfield in particular – have supplied GB with scorers, playmakers and even elite officials for generations.
Hosting the IIHF European Cup of Nations at Murrayfield brings that heritage into the present: the same end boards, the same noise, but a new generation preparing for the top division.
Individual day tickets – covering two matches – cost just £20 for adults and £12 for concessions and children under-16s. Tickets can be purchased here.
The opening game of the tournament sees Poland face Slovenia (14:00) before Great Britain play Ukraine in the evening game (18:30 face-off).

Great Britain v Ukraine – last meeting
GB and Ukraine met in Romania at last year’s World Championship Division I Group A with Pete Russell’s side securing a dramatic 4-3 victory.
Britain had led 2-0 but had to come from 3-2 down to secure the 4-3 victory after a penalty shootout, as Ben Bowns saved all four Ukraine penalties on the night he won his 82nd cap to equal Stevie Lyle for the most appearances by a GB netminder.
Team News
Seven players are set to make their first appearance for GB at senior level tonight.
Defencemen Jake Hayward, Rhodes Mitchell-King and Alex Rimko, along with forwards Ivan Björkly Nordström, Finley Bradon, Brynley Capps and Austin Mitchell-King, are all part of the GB roster for this tournament.
