The newest expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket is now live, and it brings with it a gargantuan amount of new cards — it’s the biggest set to date, in fact, kicking off the second year of content for the successful game.
The Mega Rising expansion – set B1 – is a three-booster set, the only other of which was the game’s launch set, Genetic Apex — set A1. Genetic Apex is home to 259 cards, already a substantial amount, but Mega Rising is even bigger, with over 70 more cards than its A-series counterpart.
Mega Rising, as the name suggests, brings Mega Evolution to the game, with new Mega Evolved Pokémon ex cards that are very powerful and have low energy costs to boot. The downside is that if one gets knocked out, it’s over for the card’s player — knocking out a Mega Evolved Pokémon ex card awards three points, instantly ending the game.
There are a total of 331 cards in the Mega Rising expansion, of which 226 are Standard set cards, 24 are Illustration Rare cards, and 36 are Special Illustration Rare cards — 14 of which have rainbow borders. The set also includes 3 new Immersive Rare cards and 3 new Hyper Rare cards.
There are also 30 new Shiny Rare cards and 12 new Shiny Rare ex cards.
