Former Australian captain Tim Paine stated that experienced Indian player Cheteshwar Pujara was the one who helped team India defeat Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. Cheteshwar Pujara came out as the second-highest run-scorer for India as he made 271 runs across four matches, averaging at 33.87.
Sharing his views on Pujara’s role in the victory of India, Paine observed that he does not receive the recognition he deserves. He also showered praise on Pujara due to his ability to get the Australian bowlers tired during his innings.
“What I do remember, a lot of people talk about Rishabh Pant in the last series in Australia, but the guy who won them the series was Pujara. He wore us down, he wore our fast bowlers down. He kept getting hit on the body, but he kept getting up. There is still place for that in Test cricket,” said Tim Paine.
