Former India batsman Vinod Kambli is reportedly battling significant health problems, as evidenced by a recent video that left cricket fans deeply concerned. The footage, which surfaced online, shows Kambli struggling to stay upright while leaning on a motorbike parked by the roadside. Shortly after, a few men approached to assist him in walking.
Media personality Narendra Gupta shared the video on social media, highlighting Kambli’s ongoing health struggles. “Former cricketer Vinod Kambli is battling poor health. He has been open about his struggles with health issues and personal problems in recent years. He has been hospitalized several times due to various health concerns, including heart problems and depression. I hope he recovers soon and gets the support he needs!” Gupta wrote.
Vinod Kambli’s health has raised concerns previously. In 2013, he suffered a heart attack while traveling from Chembur to Bandra and was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Prior to that, in 2012, he underwent angioplasty for two clogged arteries.
The Rise and Fall of Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli first gained prominence as a young cricketer when he and Sachin Tendulkar set a world-record partnership of 664 runs in a school match in 1988. Kambli made his international debut in 1991 in one-day internationals and soon after, in 1993, in Test cricket. He announced his arrival with back-to-back double hundreds in his third and fourth Test matches against England. Despite his early promise, Kambli’s career did not fully meet the initial high expectations.
Kambli played 104 ODIs, scoring 2,477 runs with two centuries and fourteen fifties. In Test cricket, he amassed over a thousand runs, including four centuries and three half-centuries, from just 17 matches.
As fans and former colleagues rally around him, there is a collective hope that Kambli will receive the necessary medical attention and support to overcome his current health challenges. His contributions to Indian cricket remain a significant part of the sport’s history, and the cricket community wishes him a speedy recovery.
