Star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s slump in form has now become a major concern for India. The Men in Blue recently were handed their first-ever Test series whitewash at home by New Zealand who ended up winning the series 0-3. Rohit has scored only 133 runs in his last 10 Test innings, while Kohli hasn’t fared much better, scoring 192.
Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha emphasized that the senior and experienced batters need to start taking responsibility, after they failed to take India home despite the target being that of only 147 in the third Test.
“They need to take full responsibility because they are senior players. They are in bad form at the moment, and because of that India’s collapse looks worse,” Ojha told Cricbuzz.
Ojha warned that Australia would not make it easy for the experienced duo of Rohit and Virat Down Under during the Border-Gavaskar series which is set to commence from November 22.
“The Australia series will be crucial for both of them. If they find form there, India will feel a little bit comfortable. Down Under, Australia will know that India are coming after losing a home series, and that too a whitewash. Australia will be ahead in mind games and make good use of it,” Ojha added.
India may suffer a big blow in the first Test against Australia which will be held in Perth as there are chances that skipper Rohit will not participate in the match and will continue from the second Test.
