F1 Sprint | 2025 Qatar GP

Oscar Piastri produced a stellar performance after holding his top position in the F1 Sprint at the 2025 Qatar GP.

He now stands 2nd place in the Drivers Championship.

Where is everyone?

You might’ve noticed the starting grid was smaller than usual. That’s because 4 drivers started from the grid. These include both Alpines, Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton.

It’s Oscar Piastri who started on pole, after an incredible performance in yesterday’s Sprint Qualifying session. Behind him George Russel and Lando Norris. Championship contender Max Verstappen lined up 6th, a place behind his RedBull teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

It’s Lights Out!

It was a decent start for Piastri, who managed to keep his position around the first turns of the Losail Circuit. Charles Leclerc lost 4 places in the first lap after going off the track in turn two.

Verstappen got his car swiftly ahead of teammate Tsunoda at the start of lap one, leaving him chasing after title rival Norris. Verstappen was later on the radio complaining of his car bouncing again, a problem he has faced all weekend so far.

Halfway Through

Piastri kept ahead of the pack, leading the sprint from Russel and Norris at the halfway point. Verstappen had dropped away from Norris by this point, over two seconds behind Norris.

Tsunoda had been given a 5 second penalty on lap 13, for multiple track limit breaches. This was a huge blow for the driver, who had an incredible run in Sprint Qualifying yesterday.

The Chequered Flag!

It was overall a great performance from Aussie driver Oscar Piastri, who held first place the entire sprint. This puts him back above Max Verstappen in the championship standings, who finished 4th today.

It was disappointing for Ferrari, who had 13 and 17 place finishes. They’ve really struggled recently, with Hamilton starting from pit lane today.
