While Ferrari may be thrilling F1 fans in the races, there is an acceptance they are still trailing behind Mercedes in the development war, but the Scuderia may have a trick up their sleeve to catch the Silver Arrows.
The race in Italy later this year looks to be a major challenge for the teams. Due to the long straights, there is hardly any time to recharge the battery, which is partly why Ferrari wants to try a different power unit than the one used during the recent races in Australia and China.

Following a torrid weekend in Shanghai, where he failed to score a point and retired from the Grand Prix due to an ERS failure, Verstappen’s disdain for the 2026 regulations has only grown stronger, saying: “It’s playing Mario Kart. This is not racing.”
For Montoya, such remarks “shouldn’t be accepted,” with Colombian saying he would seek to emulate American sports, and issue punishments to drivers who ‘disrespect’ F1.
Speaking to AS Colombia, Montoya said: “At some point, Formula 1 has to do what sports in the United States do and for people who disrespect the sport, there’s the door.
“They can leave or be fined so they really learn to respect what they’re doing. I would do that.”
