Having been named exclusive fuel flow meter supplier for Formula 1’s 2026–2030 power unit era, F1Technical’s senior writer Balazs Szabo delivers some key things to know about Allengra.
Allengra has been officially selected by the FIA World Motor Sport Council as the sole supplier of the Fuel Flow Meter for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026 to 2030, as well as the exclusive FIA‑approved calibration facility for the device.
The appointment positions the German‑Romanian technology specialist at the heart of Formula 1’s next-generation power unit regulations, which will introduce 100% sustainable fuels and a significantly revised hybrid architecture.
The new regulations place even greater emphasis on accurate, robust, and tamper‑proof fuel‑flow measurement — a critical component in enforcing energy‑flow limits and ensuring competitive parity. Allengra’s ultrasonic metering technology was selected following an FIA tender process designed to identify a supplier capable of meeting the sport’s demanding technical and reliability standards.
CEO and founder Raul Junker welcomed the decision, highlighting the company’s long-standing expertise in precision flow measurement.
“We are happy to be part of this exciting and challenging sport and provide it with key technology in Ultrasonic Metering,” Junker said.
Proven Technology with Motorsport Pedigree
While this marks Allengra’s first involvement in Formula 1, the company is no stranger to high‑performance environments. Its Fuel Flow Meters underwent successful competitive testing in the 2024 FIM World Superbike Championship, demonstrating resilience under extreme vibration, rapid pulsating flow, and harsh thermal conditions.
Allengra has spent nearly two decades developing and manufacturing ultrasonic flowmeters, specialising in miniaturised, high‑precision, high‑robustness sensors capable of measuring both liquids and gases.
Its products are used across a wide range of industries, including heating and HVAC, chemical processing, clean‑tech and environmental systems, automotive applications, consumer appliances such as coffee machines and, increasingly, top‑tier motorsport categories including FIA WEC.
A Critical Component for Formula 1’s Sustainable Future
From 2026 onward, Formula 1 will run on fully sustainable fuels, with power units relying on a 50/50 split between electric and combustion power. In this framework, the Fuel Flow Meter becomes a central regulatory tool, ensuring that teams comply with strict energy‑flow limits while enabling engineers to optimise combustion efficiency.
Allengra’s FIA‑approved Fuel Flow Meter is specifically engineered for installation in the fuel line of high‑performance internal combustion engines, offering high vibration resistance, rapid response to pulsating flow, exceptional measurement precision, and durability under extreme operating conditions. device for the entire field
As the exclusive supplier and calibration facility for the 2026–2030 seasons, Allengra will play a pivotal role in ensuring regulatory consistency across the grid. Its technology will be used by every team, every power unit manufacturer, and every FIA scrutineering process.
