F2 Feature Race |2025 Abu Dhabi GP |Durksen Dominant in Finale

Joshua Durksen rounded out the 2025 F2 Season on top. The AIX Racing driver was victorious in the F2 feature Race at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of Roman Stanek and Gabriele Mini.

It was a dramatic season finale, with two safety cars and five retirements. However, it was Invicta Racing who clinched the Teams Championship for the second year in a row, clearing Hitech TGR, who ended the season in second.

This Weekend So Far…

Last weekend, Fornaroli secured the 2025 F2 Championshipafter finishing second in the Feature Race at the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix. The Italian, who races for Invicta Racing, is hoping to help his team secure the F2 Teams Championship. Invicta currently sit 30 points ahead of Hitech TGR heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Jak Crawford bounced back from a disappoint Qatar in Free Practice, winding up quickest of all on a 1:39.545. While PREMA Racing’s Gabriele Minì finished up in P2, while Arvid Lindblad was third, less than one tenth behind Crawford.

While it was Roman Stanek, who put in a superb performance to take his second Aramco Pole Position Award of the season. Crawford maintained his earlier pace to qualify second, while recently crowned champion Fornaroli, qualified third for Sunday’s finale.

Lindblad secured his third victory of the season in the F2 Sprint Race at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Campos driver, who secured a 2026 Formula 1 seat with Racing Bulls earlier this week, held off Joshua Durksen. While fellow Campos driver, Nikola Tsolov earns his maiden F2 podium in third.

Lights Out On The Finale

The lights weren’t out but the penalties were already rolling in. Crawford picked up a 10 second stop and go penalty for starting procedures infringements.

The lights were out on the season finale, and it was Stanek who dropped the field quickly. Dino Begnavich was making moves quickly, passing Fornaroli and Crawford within the first few corners.

It wasn’t long until the safety car was out around Abu Dhabi. On Lap 2, Victor Martins and Alex Dunne came together, with Cian Sheilds driving straight into the side of the stricken Rodin car. Laurens Van Hoepen was also forced to retire on Lap 2. Dunne was handed a ten second time penalty following the collision.

Green Flags Again

On Lap 5, the Safety Car dived into the pits and the field was away for the final Feature Race of the 2025 F2 Season. Stanek led them away quickly, but it was Beganovich made the most of the restart gaining on the Invicta. Gabriele Mini held off Oliver Goethe, with the Red Bull Junior running off the track briefly.

The top two in the race dived into the pits at the ned of lap 7. While Stanek was able to hold his on track position, Beganovich was able to make up valuable time. Over the back DRS zone, Beganovich made the move pass Stanek for the net race lead.

Durksen was the next into the pits, the AIX Racing driver made the most of the extra lap, coming out three seconds ahead of both Beganovich and Stanek. With half the field already pitting, it was Sebastian Montoya who brought out yellow flags on Lap 9. With the PREMA stricken on the side of the road, a virtual safety car was brought out, neutralising the field. Three laps later a full Safety Car was brought out, closing the field together.

Durksen On The Charge

The cars were away as they headed into Lap 15 of the F2 feature race at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. While Fornaroli held onto the overall lead of the race, Durksen was able to hold off Beganovich and Stanek for the net lead.

With less than ten seconds separating the 17 cars, it was Inthraphuvasak who was struggling on the restart. The Thai driver, who made his debut the weekend, was sitting in thirteenth on Lap 16.

Off Track, Beganovich and Luke Bronwing were both handed 5 second time penalties for speeding in the pit lane. A mistake that could be costly for Hitech TGR as they fight to keep their teams constructors hopes alive.

Lindblad attempted to go around Fornaroli through Turn 9. While Fornaroli was able to hold off the Campos driver, both were able to escape up the road. Crawford, who had dropped to the back of the field, was climbing up the field. The Dams Lucas Oil driver was quick to catch up to Richard Verschoor, before passing him at the start of Lap 20. Further down the field, Durksen moved past Martinius Stenshorne, adding another car to the gap between himself and Beganovich.

Ten Laps To Go

With only ten laps to go until the checkered flag on the 2025 F2 Season, it was Crawford who continued to close the gap to the leaders. With the American driver now sitting within Lindblad’s DRS. On Lap 24, Crawford passed Fornaroli for second, while Lindblad escaped up the road for the lead of the race.

Durksen, who was holding onto the net lead, was on track to gain his second victory of the season as he closed in on Tsolov. With the laps ticking down, the cars on the alternate strategy started to pull into the pits. At the end of Lap 28, Tsolov, John Bennett and Stenshorne all dived into the pits. Minutes later, the Red Bull Junior driver was noted for a pit lane infringement.

Crawford, who was sitting in second on the road, picked up the fastest lap on Lap 29. While further back, Mini moved within five seconds of Beganovich, and was now on track to secure third in the F2 Feature Race at the 2925 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

On Lap 31, Lindblad and Fornaroli doived into the pits. Linblad was noted for a pit lane infringement after driving into the wrong team box. Crawford pitted a lap later. Following the pitstops, Crawford was down 11th, wedged between Lindblad and Fornaroli.

Checkered Flag on the 2025 F2 Season

The checkered flag flew for the last time in the 2025 F2 Season. Durksen crossed the line, claiming another victory in the F2 Feature Race in Abu Dhabi. The Paraguay driver has had a phenomenal end to the F2 Season, picking up a podium in the sprint race and a victory in the feature race. Durksen closes out the year, ninth in the Drivers Championship.

Beganovich, who crossed the line second, was dropped down to fourth following his penalty. Polesitter Stanek helped Invicta secure the 2025 F2 Teams Championship with a second place. While Mini picked up the final podium position in a dramatic ending to the F2 Season.

Off the podium, Goethe held off Rafael Villagomez. While Kush Miani and Ritomo Miyata scored valuable points in seventh and eighth respectively. Following their late pitstops, Lindblad held onto ninth, while Crawford made a last corner pass around Fornaroli to hold onto second in the Drivers Championship.

In the Teams Championship, Invicta held off Hitech TGR. While Campos finished in third ahead Dams Lucas Oil.
