There has been a lot of fanfare surrounding Virat Kohli ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series that is scheduled to commence from November 22. The star Indian batter was recently seen on the front page of several Australian newspapers as well where even the headlines were written in Hindi.
Virat arrived in Perth ahead of the first Test match and started practice at the WACA on Wednesday as India hosted their first full-fledged training session. According to a report by The West Australian, many fans were seen climbing trees and others even brought their own ladders to catch a glimpse of Kohli.
The report added that the batter looked in good touch against pacers and also played some great shots before moving on to the spinners.
The Indian team management has decided to allow the public to watch their centre-wicket training sessions from Friday to Sunday when they would play a warm-up match against India A at the Optus Stadium.
This report comes after several Australian media outlets had earlier reported that India’s practice sessions in Perth were completely closed for the public.
On Wednesday, ‘The Australian’ claimed in a report that a team of construction workers has been mailed by its company CEO to not watch, click pictures, or fly drones during the India net sessions.
“The extent to which India is keeping their practice guarded is laid bare in a leaked email issued to workers involved in the WACA refurbishment, due to be completed next year,” the newspaper reported.
