Just two weeks ahead of its reveal, Ferrari has confirmed that its 2026 Formula One challenger will be referred to as the SF‑26, continuing the team’s established naming convention.

The car, developed internally as Project 678, will be the first Ferrari built to the radically revised 2026 regulations, which introduce active aerodynamics, a rebalanced 50/50 hybrid‑ICE power split and a lighter, more compact chassis philosophy.

The SF‑26 arrives after a difficult 2025 season in which Ferrari finished fourth in the constructors’ standings with 398 points and no grand prix victories. The team recorded a total of seven podiums, but operational inconsistency and a lack of pace limited its competitiveness.

Charles Leclerc ended the year fifth in the drivers’ championship, scoring seven podiums and two pole positions, while Lewis Hamilton’s first season with Ferrari yielded a single Sprint race win in Shanghai and a ninth‑place championship finish.

With a significant performance gap to Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes — averaging 0.35–0.45 seconds per lap — Ferrari views the SF‑26 as a clean‑sheet opportunity to reset its technical direction and return to the front under the new 2026 rules.
