Ferrari have unveiled the SF‑26, their first Formula 1 car built to the radically revised 2026 regulations, as the team prepares to enter a new competitive landscape with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton continuing as its driver pairing. Fred Vasseur remains at the helm as Team Principal.

The Scuderia approach the coming season eager to end a championship drought that stretches back to 2008 in the Constructors’ standings and to 2007 in the Drivers’ Championship, when Kimi Räikkönen secured Ferrari’s most recent title.

Vasseur underlined the magnitude of the regulatory overhaul as the SF‑26 was presented. “2026 for sure will be a very exciting season,” he said. “It’s probably the biggest change in the regulations of F1 over the last 25 years. We are changing the chassis, the engine, the battery, the tyres, the sporting regulations.

“It means that the approach is a bit different. We have to start from scratch on every single topic. The launch of the season is always exciting, but I think this one is particularly exciting.”

According to Vasseur, Ferrari began work on the project a year earlier, investing significant resources into interpreting the new rulebook. He noted that the breadth of freedom within the regulations is likely to produce divergent design philosophies across the grid.

“We put a lot of energy, time and effort on the 2026 project. We started one year ago. But what is exciting in the new regulations is that everybody probably took a different direction, different path.

“We will have to be very open-minded at the beginning of the season to react to every single circumstance. This is very important to have stability into the organisation, to have a good group of people used to working together with the same focus. It will be key for the season.”

Vasseur also addressed Ferrari’s global fanbase as the team steps into this new era. “The message for the Tifosi is a huge ‘grazie mille per vostro support’,” he said. “We know as a team that we need to have the support from the Tifosi, from the drivers, from the engineers.

“For me, it’s very important, it’s even crucial, to have the support from the Tifosi in every single circumstance. They showed in the past they are a strong support to the Scuderia.”
