The Indian cricket team commenced its journey to Australia from Mumbai Airport on Sunday night ahead of the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first test of the BGT series is scheduled for Perth on November 22. As the series also has the potential of determining the World Test Championship 2025 finals, the Indian team is departing on two flights. Fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep were seen at the airport alongside assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Also in the first batch that departed for Australia was all-rounder Washington Sundar, middle-order Sarfaraz Khan and star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Before moving forward, Jaiswal was seen interacting with the fans, taking pictures and signing autographs at the location.
Following India’s horrendous downfall against New Zealand at home, the path to the WTC final became quite difficult.
Thus, with a 3-0 conclusive series wipe out, India will, this time, have to conquer the series very comfortably with 4-0, to travel to London for the WTC finals for the third time in a row.
After the end of the first Test match in Perth, the second Test, which is the day-night test format, will be played under lights at the oval of Adelaide from December 6 to 10. Attention will then shift to the third Test match, which will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to December 18.
The very old Boxing Day match which is going to be played between December 26 to 30 at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground will be the second last phase of the match series.
The fifth and final Test will occur at The Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3-7, offering a thrilling conclusion for a much-awaited series.
