First day comes to an end
The first day of the Boxing Day Test has concluded here in Melbourne with Australia on 311/6 with Steve Smith unbeaten on 68 while skipper Pat Cummins is unbeaten on 8. Jasprit Bumrah was once again the standout performer for India, finishing with figures of 3/75 on the first day.

Bumrah dismisses Head
India’s pace spearhead has done the job once again and this time has picked up the huge wicket of Travis Head for a duck. Bumrah cleans up the Australian left-hander, who had terrorized the Indian bowlers throughout the last 2 Tests. Australia now 240/4 after 67 overs.

Labuschagne departs
Spinner Washington Sundar gets the massive wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, who departs after playing a great knock of 72 from 145 deliveries. This was a wicket that the visitors very much needed and it is Sundar, who comes up with the goods. Australia have no been restricted to 237/3.

Score update
Australia is looking in quite a strong position after the end of 65 overs on the first day here in Melbourne. The Baggy Greens currently stand on 237/2 with Labuschagne batting on 72 and Steve Smith batting on 42. With the partnership already on 83 runs, the Indian bowlers will be trying to get a breakthrough as soon as possible.
