Ahead of its debut season in Formula One, Cadillac added Pietro Fittipaldi as a developmental driver, with the Brazilian confirming the news on social media in the final leg of the 2025 season.

Cadillac’s preparations for its 2026 Formula 1 debut have taken another step forward with the signing of Pietro Fittipaldi as a simulator driver, strengthening the American manufacturer’s growing technical roster.

Fittipaldi, who previously served as Haas’s test and reserve driver, brings valuable experience to the programme. He notably substituted for Romain Grosjean at the 2020 Sakhir and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix following the Frenchman’s fiery accident in Bahrain, giving him two race starts and extensive modern‑era F1 mileage.

The Brazilian‑American confirmed the news on social media, calling the opportunity “a privilege” and expressing pride in joining what he described as an “iconic” brand.

“I’m very proud to finally share that I’ve joined the Cadillac F1 Team,” Fittipaldi noted. “We have been working together on the development of the team’s 2026 F1 car. As a sim driver, together with my team‑mates, we have been doing extensive simulator testing and full race‑weekend simulations to prepare for next season.”

Cadillac also released footage of Sergio Pérez — who will race for the team in 2026 alongside Valtteri Bottas — working in the GM Motorsports simulator. The caption noted that the Mexican driver has been “keeping sharp” alongside Fittipaldi and fellow simulator drivers Simon Pagenaud and Charlie Eastwood.

The addition of Fittipaldi follows Cadillac’s recent signing of IndyCar star Colton Herta as a test driver, signalling the team’s intent to build a deep and experienced development group ahead of its first season under the new 2026 regulations.
