Linus Ullmark doesn’t look like he’ll be back soon, but Senators president and general manager Steve Staois has his back while he’s out.
The former Bruins Vezina winner, who is away from the Senators for personal reasons, was taken off the Ottawa roster on Thursday. As is customary in these situations, no further information has been provided.
Also common is for social media troublemakers, usually anonymously, to post rumors, often made-up, about the nature of the personal reasons.
Staios took exception and put out a fiery statement hoping to end any speculation:
“Our organization was extremely disappointed to read the completely fabricated and false stories that are spreading around social media about our hockey club. Linus is away from our team for personal reasons and he has the entire organization’s support. We asked that people respect his privacy, but clearly that request was not heard by the lowest forms of trolls and sick people who scour the internet. We are disgusted that outside forces are attempting to disrupt our hockey club. This statement will put an end to the ridiculous speculation that has spread online.Steve Staios, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.”
