It is now the most expensive over conceded in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
During the ongoing Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament, a former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star underwent a thorough drubbing after getting hit for six sixes in one over.
Former CSK wicketkeeper-batter and the captain of the Indian team at the Hong Kong Sixes, Robin Uthappa had a forgettable time in the middle after England’s Ravi Bopara destroyed him with his power-hitting.
The carnage came in the fourth over of England’s innings. Up until then, by Hong Kong Sixes standards, the game had seen a relatively cautious beginning, with England at 36/0 after three overs. Then, Bopara unleashed an aggressive assault on Uthappa. He smashed five consecutive sixes off the first five deliveries, only for Uthappa to then bowl a wide. The extra ball didn’t disrupt Bopara’s momentum; he slammed another six off the final delivery, bringing the total to six sixes in the over.

Ex-CSK star Robin Uthappa gets hit for 6 Sixes
This feat made Bopara the first batter in the 2024 Hong Kong Cricket Sixes to hit six maximums in one over. Uthappa’s over also became the most costly one of the tournament so far.
Bopara continued his hitting spree, smashing a seventh straight six off Shahbaz Nadeem in the next over, bringing up his half-century in just 14 balls. He retired after scoring a blazing 53 off 14 balls, featuring eight sixes. His innings were complemented by Samit Patel, who contributed an impressive 51 off 18 balls with four fours and five sixes.
Following the onslaught, Uthappa would have hoped to make some amends with the bat but unfortunately departed on a first-ball golden duck.
England’s fiery batting eventually proved too much for India, who fell short by 15 runs. Bopara also made an impact with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/11.
India are now out of the tournament after suffering three consecutive losses against Pakistan, England and UAE.
