Former F1 team principal starts new chapter as MotoGP team boss
Former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner is back in the paddock once again only this time he has transitioned over to the world of MotoGP.
Trading in the four wheels for two, Steiner has taken over as co-owner in KTM’s Tech3 satellite team as he looks to branch out beyond the world of Formula 1.

The team had a relatively positive year last season with standout performances from both Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini. The problem for the team was mainly consistency and engineering difficulties, which they will hope the arrival of new owners can help address.

Speaking at the season launch event in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, Steiner gave his first public address in KTM orange and seemed in positive spirits as he looked forward to the new challenge.

I’m just finding my way, it’s all new for me, but it’s very exciting,” said Steiner up on the stage.

Normally I give a hard time to the rookies but I think now the guys give me a hard time. I try to learn quick and I’m very humbled, very thankful – I am the rookie, I know that, and it’s actually pretty nice to be a rookie at 60 years old, no?

Guenther also continued his humorous approach when addressing the slippery conditions of the Kuala Lumpur launch event.

“The team manager and the mechanics have told them – don’t destroy the bikes. I don’t have to say anything. If I have to tell them what to do then we have a problem.”

It seems as though the former Haas boss is settling into his new environment seamlessly, and will be hoping that his experienced rider line-up can translate to some positive results on-track.
