A former University of Maine football player and assistant coach is facing serious legal allegations following his recent arrest in Florida.
Roosevelt Boone was taken into custody on Tuesday, according to law enforcement officials. Authorities confirmed that Boone was arrested at IMG Academy, a nationally recognized prep school known for developing elite athletes across multiple sports.
Police in Brunswick, Maine stated that Boone is facing a charge of gross sexual assault following what they described as an “extensive investigation” into an incident that allegedly occurred in 2024. Details surrounding the case remain limited, but officials indicated the investigation spanned several months before the arrest was made.
According to publicly available records, Boone had been working at IMG Academy as an enrollment manager. Prior to that, he was a member of the University of Maine football program from 2007 to 2011, where he played running back. Following his playing career, Boone later returned to the program in a coaching capacity, serving as an assistant coach.
After his arrest in Florida, Boone was transported to the Manatee County Jail, where he is currently being held as a fugitive from justice. Authorities say he is awaiting further legal proceedings, which could include extradition to Maine to face the charge.
This case remains active, and additional details are expected to emerge as the legal process moves forward. Law enforcement officials have not yet released further information regarding the specifics of the alleged incident.
