Formula 3 Testing 2026 | Day Three Round Up

Théophile Nael topped the timesheets for the third and final day of Formula 3 testing. Fellow Campos Racing driver, Ugo Ugochukwu was third while, Noah Stromsted slotted into second.

Morning Session

The pace was on as all drivers took to the track for the final day of F3 Testing. However, James Wharton brought out the first Red Flag, stuck in gravel between Turns 7 and 8.

Once the track was clear, the times started to tumble. Rookie Patrick Heuzenroeder went fastest with a 1:29.354. Before Trident’s Noah Stromsted, who was out on fresh tyres, topped the timesheets with a 1:27.586.

Ugochukwu, who had an impressive off season claiming the 2026 Formula Regional Oceania Title, improved to only 0.020s behind the Trident Driver. Freddie Slater, who ended Day 1 and Day 2 on top, was sitting in fourth.

With the majority of the field back in the pit lane, Nael returned to the track for more shot at a fast lap, completing a 1:27.525 to go fastest by just 0.095s. With the rest of the drivers now gathering long run information, no one bettered Nael.

Following the session, Nael spoke about how Barcelona testing has been going for himself and Campos Racing.

“At the moment, it has been a really good three days. Obviously, there are many things that are working well, some of them not. We are analysing everything. Obviously, that was a really good morning for us”

Afternoon Session

The long runs continued into the afternoon session, with Van Amersfoort Racing’s Enzo Deligny setting the pace with a 1:32.430. His time stood for 40 minutes until it was beaten by Brandon Badoer.

The first Red Flag of the afternoon was out soon after, with José Garfias stopped on track at Turn 6. Brad Benavides, who had a strong end to his 2025 campaign, clocked a 1:31.573 putting him ahead of Rookie Fernando Barrichello by 0.115s.

As the afternoon session ticked into its second hour, the Red Flag was out again. Slater was stopped on track at Turn 12. The Green Flags weren’t out for long, as Fionn McLaughlin then got stuck in the gravel trap at the final corner, leading to another stoppage.

Green flags were waved with over an hour to go in the day. With only 30 minutes left for testing, qualifying tyres went back on with Brando Badoer and then Matteo De Palo going quickest.

DAMS Lucas Oil then went faster with just over five minutes to go. Nicola Lacorte led the way with a 1:29.676, half a second faster than teammate Gerrard Xie.

As the afternoon of F3 pre-season testing wrapped up, it was Lacorte ahead of Xie and De Palo.

All the drivers now turn their attention to Round 1 at the Australian Grand Prix in under one month.
