The college football transfer portal is still weeks away from opening, but that hasn’t stopped some of the biggest names in college football from announcing their intentions to enter.
While former five-stars like DJ Lagway (Florida) and Dylan Raiola (Nebraska) are among the marquee names to decide to transfer, arguably the biggest catch in the entire portal is Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt.
The two-year starter led the Sun Devils to a Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff a year ago, and came into the season garnering plenty of first-round projections. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a foot injury that ended his season prematurely, but he is expected to command quite the list of suitors in the portal this offseason.

As reported by On3’s Pete Nakos, Leavitt has been linked to four of the biggest programs in the country, with three of them actively playing in the College Football Playoff this year.
“Among the early schools On3 is hearing about in his recruitment include Oregon, Indiana, Miami and LSU, sources tell On3,” wrote Nakos.
There are mixed reviews on whether or not Dante Moore will return to Oregon as he is viewed as a potential first-round pick if he were to declare this year. Indiana will need to replace Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, Miami will need someone to replace Carson Beck and LSU is looking for Lane Kiffin’s first quarterback choice after leaving Ole Miss.
Across his three-year career, which started at Michigan State, Leavitt has thrown for 4,652 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 picks, while rushing for 816 yards and 10 scores on the ground.
According to Rivals, Leavitt has a $2.1 million NIL Valuation, which means he could end up being one of the highest-paid players in college football next season.
