Francisco Roig made the quick decision to leave Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in favour of working with Iga Swiatek.

Roig was spotted working with the Frenchman at Indian Wells, shortly after splitting with Emma Raducanu.

Swiatek’s split with Wim Fissette left the door open for Roig to work with the Pole and the Spanish coach swiftly took it.

Just days after losing his coach to Swiatek, Mpetshi Perricard has shared his reaction to Roig’s decision.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard criticises Francisco Roig after Iga Swiatek departure

Mpetshi Perricard and Roig’s partnership lasted less than a month and the Frenchman is far from happy with his former coach’s etiquette.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Mpetshi Perricard revealed that Roig did not even personally tell him he was leaving the partnership.

How many Grand Slam titles will Iga Swiatek win with Francisco Roig as her coach?

She’s signed one of the best coaches on tour!

“It was my agent who informed me. He didn’t inform me directly,” explained Mpetshi Perricard. “I thought I could trust his words. To throw all that away so quickly, it’s a shame.

“It’s a ruthless world. I’d never seen that before. It took me a good half-day to process it. Was it because of me? Actually, not at all.

“I had nothing to do with it, with videos that came out quickly (Roig with Swiatek). But I don’t think that project (with Swiatek) was put together in 24 hours.”

Swiatek’s partnership with Roig will officially get underway at the Women’s Stuttgart Open, which begins on 13th April.

According to the same article in L’Equipe, the Frenchman will now be working with British tennis icon Greg Rusedski.

Rusedski has previously worked with the likes of Johanna Konta and Kyle Edmund, and this will be his first taste of coaching since 2024.

The only other non-British star Rusedski has worked with is Victoria Azarenka, who he worked with at the 2024 US Open.

Rusedski has made no secret of his desire to return to a coaching and even teased a partnership with Raducanu recently.
