PM, Rohit Sharma and CO are all their way to victory parade in Mumbai. After that, Wankhede Stadium organized a program and the galleries were already filled. The entire stadium is erupting with the ‘Hardik Hardik’ chant.Â
Hardik Pandya’s Struggle and Conquering the World Cup Stage:
In the IPL 2022 season, Hardik Pandya captained the Gujarat Titans for two years, leading them to an IPL trophy in 2022, a monumental achievement. However, his fortunes changed upon joining the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the recent tournament edition. Throughout his stint with MI, Pandya faced severe criticism and was often booed by fans. His personal performance didn’t meet expectations, intensifying the scrutiny, especially when MI failed to progress past the group stage, sparking even harsher criticism.
During IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya faced continuous booing from a section of the Wankhede Stadium crowd. Many Mumbai Indians fans were not supportive of him as captain, having replaced Rohit Sharma. Despite the negativity, Hardik maintained his composure throughout the season, handling the criticism with grace. Just not in Wankhede, he faced boos in different cities as well.
The narrative shifted dramatically during the T20 World Cup, where Hardik Pandya rediscovered his form and played a pivotal role in India’s triumph on the global stage. His standout performance came in the final match, where he claimed figures of 3/20 against South Africa. After securing victory, Pandya was visibly emotional, collapsing to the ground in tears. Despite the recent backlash from Mumbai Indians fans, Pandya’s contributions, finishing the tournament with 11 wickets and 144 runs, solidified his status as a hero for India and a champion on the world stage.
Wankhede Ecoed ‘Hardik…Hardik’ Chant:
In the IPL 2024, Hardik was booed badly. But the T20 World Cup success turned the scenario. Cheers of ‘Hardik, Hardik’ echoed across Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium before Team India’s victory parade. Fans thronged Marine Drive and the stadium in massive numbers, showing unwavering support for the Indian team. The atmosphere was filled with love and admiration for the Men in Blue, creating a spirited celebration of their success.
The Indian team will arrive at the Wankhede Stadium for a felicitation ceremony. The BCCI announced a prize money of Rs 125 crore, which will be distributed among the players and support staff after the event. Before the ceremony, Rohit Sharma and his team will embark on a victory parade from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium aboard a specially designed open-top bus.
