Gautam Gambhir hosts dinner for Team India players ahead of Namibia clash

In a warm and soothing moment off the field, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir welcomed his players and support staff on Sunday evening, hosting the entire Team India contingent for dinner at his Delhi residence ahead of the team’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Namibia.

With India’s Group A campaign already underway after a gritty opening win over the USA, the Men in Blue touched down in the national capital ahead of their second match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 12.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, members of the Indian squad can be seen arriving at Gambhir’s residence, being greeted by the coach and his family. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, among others were present for the occasion.

This isn’t the first time Gambhir has hosted the team in his home city during his coaching stint. He organised dinner for the squad during the home Test series against West Indies last year.

‘Just try and bat till the end’ – Suryakumar Yadav reveals Gautam Gambhir’s tips during his knock vs USA

The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed his conversation with the coach after team India’s victory over USA. The right-hander was joined by the coach during his innings against USA at the Wankhede Stadium and was seen having a conversation with Yadav.

“I always felt that there was a need for a batter to bat till the end. I never felt that it was a 180–190 wicket. I felt it was a 140 wicket. But then Gauti bhai told me the same thing during the break after 14 overs. He told me, ‘Just try and bat till the end; you can cover it any time’,” Suryakumar said at the post-match presentation.

The Mumbai batter was also named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings that bailed his team out from a tricky situation.
