Gautam Gambhir hugs underperforming Sanju Samson after India’s win against Sri Lanka

Team India’s new coach Gautam Gambhir couldn’t be any happier upon kick-starting his venture with a comprehensive T20I series win over Sri Lanka. The tourists won the first two games and won the series. The dead rubber ended in a tie and was extended to the Super Over.

The visitors once again came out on top much to the hosts’ annoyance. Rightly so, they inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on Sri Lanka. The hosts were completely outplayed in their backyard. After the game, a video clip featuring Gautam Gambhir and Sanju Samson embracing each other started doing the rounds.

Sanju Samson who was picked for Sri Lanka T20Is, got an opportunity to feature in the second and third game. Nevertheless, he had a forgettable outing as he was dismissed for a duck in both games. While he was dismissed for a golden duck in the second T20I, he departed for a fourth-ball duck in the third T20I. Besides that, he also dropped two regulation catches in the game.

India’s head coach was all smiles as he hugged out of form Sanju Samson after India’s 3-0 series win over Sri Lanka. It was good to see Gambhir smiling at Samson and giving a pat on his back. The heartwarming video clip garnered traction in the social media fraternity.

Sanju Samson must be really disappointed with his performances in the tour. Nevertheless, he would take this experience as a steep learning curve in the hope of getting better over time. It is very much appears that Samson will get the necessary backing from the team management.

The Kerala-born cricketer was not picked for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. Senior cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma will return to the 50-over format. Rohit Sharma will lead the team from the front, with the first ODI slated to be held on August 2, Friday in Colombo.
