GB SQUAD NAMED FOR ULTIMATE HOCKEY 3×3

Great Britain have named their squad for the Ultimate Hockey 3×3 tournament taking place in Innsbruck this month.

GB, Austria, Estonia, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands will compete in the first-ever Ultimate Hockey Breaking the Ice Tour event.

Taking place from 10th to 12th April – in front of the Olympiaworld Innsbruck – the event marks the international launch of Ultimate Hockey as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck.

Great Britain are in Group B alongside Austria and Netherlands, while Group A consists of Estonia, Germany and Hungary.

The compact and high-intensity 3×3 format promises fast-paced games, technical excellence and emotional rivalries in a unique urban setting.

The team will be led by Head Coach Corey Neilson and General Manager Kevin McLaughlin.

Neilson said: “It’s exciting to be part of this first-ever IIHF three-on-three tournament and everyone involved is looking forward to it.

“Three-on-three is a unique format and requires fitness and skill and it’s great to be going head-to-head with some top hockey nations.

“The unique rules will make it a very interesting experience. Nobody has played this style of game so it’s a level playing field and whichever team figures it out first will have a good advantage.

“We have an exciting mix of experienced GB players, young players and players new to the programme for the first time. It’s a honour to be part of the tournament and to be part of such a special event.”
