Domestic Fight Night In East London

George Liddard vs Tyler Denny is one of the most compelling domestic fights in British boxing right now. Twenty-three years old, unbeaten in thirteen professional contests, and already holding British and Commonwealth honours, Liddard has quickly established himself as one of the division’s brightest prospects.

On Saturday at the Copper Box Arena in Hackney Wick, Liddard puts both his titles on the line for the first time with the vacant IBF Intercontinental belt also at stake against Tyler Denny. A seasoned southpaw who has built his reputation the hard way over more than two decades in the sport.

Denny may not be the most eye-catching name on paper, but his record tells a different story. A former European champion, he owns a stoppage win over Felix Cash and has shared the ring with elite-level opponents. He is the kind of fighter who can expose inexperience and Liddard will need to be at his best.

Liddard vs Denny My Prediction

Liddard is faster, younger, and has been proving people wrong at every turn. The Conway performance showed this is not a prospect who wilts under pressure he came on stronger as rounds accumulated, which speaks to both his conditioning and his mentality. Denny, though, is a southpaw with the kind of settled, methodical approach that can make a young champion look ordinary in the early rounds. If Denny gets his jab working and makes Liddard think, the middle rounds become interesting.

Ryan Feltcher predicts: Liddard by stoppage, rounds 7–10. He’s too young, too hungry, and too sharp for Denny to hold off forever.

Closing Thoughts

The undercard tells the story of where Matchroom currently sits in British boxing. Jimmy Sains defends the English middleweight title in the chief support. Louie Ward, Liddard’s gym-mate, makes his professional debut.
