George Liddard vs Tyler Denny – Results & Post-Fight Report

George Liddard retained his British and Commonwealth middleweight titles with a pulsating unanimous decision victory over Tyler Denny at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

Liddard (14-0, 8 KOs) was made to work hard by former European champion, Denny (21-4-3, 1 KO) in a back-and-forth encounter, but prevailed with three scores of 116-112.

Liddard appeared on course for an early night, when he stumbled the 34-year-old back in the opening round.

However, the visitor was not deterred and responded well, landing a solid left hook in the second round which caught the 23-year-old man’s attention after he caught Denny with right and lefts.

The pattern continued with Denny beginning to stamp his authority on the contest by the fourth, detonating at least two left hands on Liddard.

Denny, who was stopped by Hamzah Sheeraz in two rounds in September 2024, maintained a relentless pace and continued to land combinations and was seemingly frustrating Liddard as he continued to clinch and tie him up.

Liddard, who won the British title last time out with a 10th round stoppage of Kieron Conway in October, appeared to hurt his rival with an accurate body shot in the eighth round, but Denny once again regrouped and the pair traded ferociously as the round came to a close.

Denny had a solid ninth round connecting with at least two overhand lefts which subdued the partisan crowd.

The Essex man staggered Denny back at the start of the 11th and the pair continued to exchange until the final bell, with the bout looking close as it headed to the scorecards.

All three judges scored the clash 116-112, with Liddard securing his 14th straight professional victory and retaining his Lonsdale and Commonwealth straps, while also adding the vacant IBF Intercontinental middleweight title.

Visioli drops, dominates Giles

Giorgio Visioli dropped Levi Giles on route to a dominant unanimous decision victory to retain his English lightweight title.

Visioli (11-0, 6 KOs) floored Giles (17-3-1, 4 KOs) in the fifth round with a series of shots to head and body, but the Grimsby man, who has never been stopped in any of his previous two defeats, survived the onslaught and rose to his feet.

Visioli looked a class above the 29-year-old throughout the 10 rounds and ran out a comfortable winner, with scores of 100-89 and 99-90×2 highlighting his dominance.

The 22-year-old remains on course for a much talked-about showdown with rising American, Curmel Moton.

Sains scrapes past Osaze

Jimmy Sains made a successful first defence of his English middleweight title, but was pushed to the brink by Derrick Osaze in a contentious majority decision win.

Sains (12-0, 10 KOs) stumbled Osaze (13-4, 3 KOs) back at the end of the third round, but tired down the stretch, with the challenger appearing to bank most of the second half of the fight.

Scores of 97-93 and 96-94 awarded Sains the victory, overruling a third judge who scored it 95-95.

Buttigieg blasts out Goodwin in thriller

Leli Buttigieg scored a stunning ninth round stoppage of Jake Goodwin after a thrilling middleweight showdown.

Buttigieg (12-0, 4 KOs) and Goodwin (8-3-1, 1 KO) traded frantically throughout the bout, although Buttigieg looked to be heading towards a potential first professional defeat after being deducted two points for continuously spitting out his gumshield.

However, the 21-year-old rallied back to produce a showreel finish.

A hard left hook stumbled Goodwin back and as he was heading to the canvas, Buttigieg crashed in another right hand.

As the Doncaster man rose to his feet on unsteady legs, referee Lee Every stopped the bout.

Remaining Undercard

Connor Mitchell (2-0, 1 KO) secured his second professional victory winning every round against Italy’s Yuri Zanoli (8-19-1, 4 KOs)

Also at featherweight Adam Maca (5-0, 5 KOs) kept up his perfect record, with a volley of blows in the fourth round prompting the corner of Lydon Chircop (8-4, 4 KOs) corner to throw in the towel.

Taylor Bevan (8-0, 8 KOs) remained unbeaten with a devastating second round body shot knockout of Martin Ezequiel Bulacio (15-11, 10 KOs) at super middleweight.

Super featherweight prospect, Louie Ward (1-0) made a successful professional debut, outpointing Jahfieus Faure (4-24-3)
