Georges St-Pierre Reveals Childhood Dream To Become WWE Wrestler Before MMA Career Took Off

Georges St-Pierre built his legacy as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, but long before he dominated inside the Octagon, he had his eyes set on a very different kind of ring. The former UFC champion recently opened up about his childhood ambitions, revealing that professional wrestling was once his ultimate goal before mixed martial arts became a real option.

During the discussion with Danny Jones, St-Pierre explained that when he was growing up, MMA simply wasn’t the global sport it is today. That meant his earliest dreams naturally leaned toward WWE, which at the time featured larger-than-life athletes who defined combat entertainment for fans around the world.

“Growing up, I wanted to become a WWE wrestler. MMA did not exist. I wanted… but I’m too small. I’m not big enough. At the time, they were big. All the wrestlers were minimum 200 maybe 30 lbs and plus.”

St-Pierre went on to explain how the physical expectations of wrestling in past decades played a major role in shaping his thinking. During his youth, the business was dominated by massive competitors, and he believed he didn’t fit the mold required to succeed in that environment.

“Now, now it changes. Now they want sometime more athletic guys, maybe smaller, but before they were all big guys.”

He also reflected on the pressure many athletes faced during that era when it came to size and performance enhancement. St-Pierre admitted that while gaining size was technically possible, it came with risks he wasn’t willing to take.

“I could have maybe get on steroid and get there, but I didn’t want to… I didn’t want to take the risk.”

Even though his path ultimately led him to MMA greatness instead of WWE stardom, his early dream shows just how much professional wrestling influenced an entire generation of fighters who grew up watching the spectacle and intensity inside the squared circle.

What do you think about Georges St-Pierre revealing that he once wanted to become a WWE wrestler before MMA took off? Do you think he could have succeeded in WWE if he had chosen that path? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
