Germany announce Wolfpack side travelling to Nairobi for SVNS 2 opener

Germany Men’s Sevens head coach Pablo Feijoo has confirmed his 14-player squad that will compete in the HSBC SVNS 2 opener in Kenya.

The Wolfpack’s first outing of 2026 will see them travel to Nairobi to play in the first of three legs alongside Kenya, Uruguay, Canada, Belgium and the USA.

Teams placed in the top four of the overall standings – after additional stops in Montevideo and São Paulo – will qualify for the HSBC SVNS World Championships in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.

For the tournament Feijoo has been able to name a strong squad for the tournament in Africa. They will be without Makonnen Amekuedi and Philip Gleitze who are both injured.

“Our goal is a top four placement in SVNS 2,” Pablo Feijoo, Germany’s head coach, said. “Honestly, I see the USA, Kenya and Uruguay a tick stronger than us, because they have played regularly in the World Series in recent years and have a lead in experience and maybe also playing pace.

“Nevertheless, they also want to act at eye level against these teams and also win victories. We can play at a very high level, but for this we have to keep our error rate as low as possible and constantly reach our highest level.

“Then we can also keep up with every opponent. The team has developed very well in recent years, and now we hope to be one step further again, as it will be last year in Los Angeles, where we played really well.”
