Gervonta Davis is Arrested by Miami Gardens Police After a Two-Week Manhunt

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Miami, Florida (January 29th, 2026)– World Lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, age 31, who was on the run since an arrest warrant was issued for him on January 14, 2026, was apprehended by Miami police on January 28, 2026, at 3:30 A.M., ending a two-week manhunt. Davis was charged with battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred in October 2025 at a strip club in the Miami Gardens area, with a former girlfriend accusing the world lightweight champion of domestic violence.

The woman, who remains anonymous, said she had an intimate relationship with Davis for five months, which ended a month before the incident. She stated she had subsequently cut off communication with Davis following the split.

At 4:15 A.M., while working at the nightclub, the woman alleges Davis grabbed her by the back of her head, pulled her by the hair with one hand, and had her by her throat with his other hand. The woman told police officers Davis, while still maintaining his grip on the back of her head, forcefully escorted her down a stairway and into a parking garage. After reaching the parking area, Davis finally released her, and the woman ran to her co-workers for help. Two days later, she went to the police station to report the incident. She reported minor injuries, including bruising to her left arm. Police said detectives had obtained video footage corroborating the victim’s statements. The woman’s complaint documents four additional incidents, including two incidents when she claims Davis threatened to kill her.

Davis, 30-0-1 with 28 knockouts, Baltimore, Maryland, remains the World Boxing Association champion in recess, a status placed on him due to his legal troubles, which forced him to be dropped as the exhibition opponent for Jake Paul. Davis made his last ring appearance in March of 2025, when he drew over 12 rounds to retain his world title with challenger Lamont Roach. It should be noted that Davis is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Davis was caught after posting on Instagram and was released on a $8,500 bond.
