Ghana’s World Cup opponents England to face New Zealand and Costa Rica in March friendlies – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

England, Ghana’s Group L opponents at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, have confirmed two friendlies in June as part of their final preparations for the tournament.

The Three Lions will face New Zealand on June 6 before taking on Costa Rica four days later, just one day before the World Cup kicks off.

Prior to these fixtures, England will also play Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31, giving manager Thomas Tuchel opportunities to fine-tune his squad ahead of the global showpiece.

The Three Lions, drawn alongside Ghana, Croatia, and Panama, are chasing their first major trophy since their 1966 World Cup triumph and are widely tipped as favourites to top Group L.

Meanwhile, Ghana will continue their pre-tournament preparations with friendlies against Austria and Germany on March 27 and Germany on March 30.

The Black Stars open their World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, before meeting England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27. Head coach Otto Addo has singled out England as the strongest team in the group, warning of a tough challenge for Ghana.

Ghana will be looking to improve on their previous World Cup outings, having been eliminated at the group stage in their last two appearances.
