Team India returned home on Thursday after winning the T20 World Cup last week. From New Delhi to Mumbai, the team received a fantastic reception from the fans. Along with the players, all the support staff was also welcomed by the fans, with an open bus parade, on their way to Wankhede Stadium, where a separate ceremony was organized for the team.
Players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya led team India in their victory lap around the premises of Wankhede Stadium. In a viral video, Kohli, Rohit and the others were seen singing along with the chants of “Vande Mataram”. The video was enough to guarantee goosebumps to the fans of the Indian cricket team.
During the ceremony at Wankhede Stadium, the BCCI distributed Rs 125 crore to the Indian team, a prize money that the board had already announced for the side after its T20 World Cup triumph.
Virat, Rohit, outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid and jasprit Bumrah even got a chance to get on the podium and express their emotions.
After the congratulatory ceremony, the players of Indian cricket team walked towards the fans and tossed them signed balls towards them, before walking out of the ground. Some fans, who were lucky enough, even got selfies and autographs from the team.
The victory parade had started off at Marine Drive and ended at Wankhede Stadium, crossing the sea of fans on the way, who had gathered to celebrate the team’s success.
