GREAT BRITAIN 4-3 CHINA – Ice Hockey UK

Great Britain completed their men’s World Championship Division II Group A campaign with a 4-3 overtime victory against China.

GB secured the silver medal with Thursday’s 2-1 win against Romania and this victory made it four wins in five matches after earlier successes against Spain (4-3) and Croatia (5-2).

Wen Jiahao broke clear of the GB defence to put China ahead (03:48), before Kyle Carruth reacted first to a rebound to equalise (07:03).

Bailey Yates got to the loose puck at the top of the crease to make it 2-1 to GB (25:07) and Brynley Capps netted on the powerplay after being set-up on the doorstep by Jack Clarke (33:58).

China scored with the man advantage as the period came to a close through Sun Jingkun’s deflected one-timer from left-point (37:01).

Zhao Rongji tipped-in Jin Jialin’s shot to equalise for China (42:28) and after chances at both ends the game went to overtime.

The hero was Capps who broke into the zone and danced through the China defence before going backhand top-shelf to win the game (61:29).
