Green Bay Packers Predicted To Draft 2x National Champion To Backup Jordan Love In 2026 (and Beyond)

Green Bay Packers Predicted To Draft 2x National Champion To Backup Jordan Love In 2026 (and Beyond)

The Green Bay Packers have several needs that they need to address in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. While many believe that they will be focusing on defense, it should not be overlooked that they still do not have set replacement for backup quarterback Malik Willis.

Willis, of course, spent the last two seasons in Green Bay backing up Jordan Love, and turned his success in the Packers system into a lucrative three-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Of course, he is expected to be Miami’s starting quarterback, especially after they parted ways with Tua Tagovailoa.

The Packers do have Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord currently on their roster as potential replacements. However, it is not out of the question that they may use one of their picks in this month’s draft to fill the role.

Green Bay Packers predicted to take Carson Beck in the 2026 NFL Draft

Miami’s Carson Beck (11) passes during the College Football Playoff National Championship college football game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.

Recently, Fox Sports analyst Ben Arthur listed potential landing spots for quarterbacks that have entered the 2026 NFL Draft, other than Fernando Mendoza, who is expected to be selected first overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Surprisingly, he listed the Packers as a potential team that could draft two-time National Champion Carson Beck:

Beck, who recently led Miami to the National Champion Game, won two titles while he was playing at Georgia (and Packers fans know how much general manager Brian Gutekunst loves Georgia prospects).

This past season, Beck completed 72.0% of his passes for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Despite the good numbers Beck has put up throughout his six-year college career, he is far from a polished product. That being said, his most glaring weaknesses (specifically his footwork) are the things that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has proven to be a master at fixing.

Should Green Bay select Beck, they could develop him into a legitimate quarterback that they could turn into more draft picks in a trade. That being said, he is projected to be a third or fourth round pick this year, and Green Bay may not want to invest that high of a selection into a backup quarterback.
